1. Read through the learning objectives and your learning guide to make sure that you understand what is expected of you
2. The learning guide will contain procedure steps or explanations and descriptions of double seam evaluation. You are required to familiarise yourself with this information and to ask your mentor to demonstrate or explain any procedures when you require it.
3. Before doing any double seam evaluation yourself, ask your mentor to demonstrate the procedures before proceeding on your own. Then you may proceed to carry out the double seam evaluation and practice these to improve your confidence. Never carry out any evaluation without following the correct safety procedures.
4. Work through each procedure step under the guidance of your mentor to ensure that you are carrying out the evaluation correctly. If you achieve less than 80%, repeat the settings as laid down in the module until you achieve 80%.
5. Explain the evaluation procedure to your mentor showing him the section of seam you are talking about. If there are any adjustments to be made to your evaluation, describe the procedures and the tools you will use to do the job.
Work through the self-test and make sure that you can answer yes to all the questions or that you achieve 80% for your answers. If you find that you are not certain of any part of the training material, repeat the learning guide or practical procedures until you feel confident with all aspects of your learning experience. The final competency check or self-test questionnaire on this module must be done under the supervision of your mentor (you will be allowed three attempts at this final test to achieve the required competency).
